Mercedes-Benz Online Road Safety Awareness Contest Fans New Flames

（上海，2004年9月9日）-- 周末的恒隆外广场格外热闹，上海市公安局交巡警总队和梅赛德斯-奔驰公司共同在这里向市民宣传交通安全知识，并推广“梅赛德斯-奔驰网上交通安全知识竞赛”(以下简称奔驰网上交通安全知识竞赛)。
(September 9, 2004, Shanghai) -- The Henglong Wai Plaza on the weekend is more crowded than usual, as the Traffic & Patrol Police Brigade of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau and Mercedes-Benz are building road safety awareness among the people by launching the Mercedes-Benz Online Road Safety Awareness Contest (referred to below as the “Benz Online Road Safety Awareness Contest”).

来自上海市多所中小学的学生代表参加了今天的推广活动，参与了现场交通安全知识竞猜，并在现场上网参加比赛。一位学生家长在现场说道：“孩子开学后，家长最担心的除了孩子的学习外，就是交通安全了。上海的路况越来越复杂，能够有权威的、专业的机构来告诉孩子们如何遵守交通规则，减少不必要的伤害，令我们家长十分放心。”
Students from different primary and middle schools in Shanghai participate in today’s event by joining the road safety awareness contest on the spot or online. The parent of a student comments during the contest: “After the new semester begins, what worries us most beside their studies is the road safety. Roads in Shanghai are becoming more complicated, and it is really a relief for us that the authoritative and professional organization tells the children how to comply with the traffic rules and avoid unnecessary hazards.”

继奔驰网上交通安全知识竞赛于7月29日在上海海洋水族馆正式启动，全市已有各个区县的近2,000位中小学生通过上海交通安全信息网参加了该项赛事，并且有600多位同学全部答对竞赛题目，有机会进入优胜奖的角逐。
Since the opening of the Benz Online Road Safety Awareness Contest at Shanghai Ocean Aquarium on July 29th, almost 2,000 primary and middle school students from different districts and counties in Shanghai have participated in the contest via Shanghai Road Safety Information Webpage. More than 600 students gave correct answers to all questions and thus get the opportunity to win prizes.

梅赛德斯－奔驰中国有限公司的王宏声先生表示，梅赛德斯－奔驰作为全球历史最悠久的汽车品牌一直致力于为社会做出贡献，这不仅体现在生产安全性能高的汽车上，也体现在公司对于提高人们道路交通安全意识所作的努力上。他指出，梅赛德斯－奔驰去年和中国道路交通安全协会共同发起了“交通安全，从我做起”宣传教育活动。今年，在上海有关部门领导、媒体、公众的大力支持下，“交通安全，从我做起”宣传教育活动得以在上海展开，例如6-7月开展的电话亭宣传活动、新民晚报上的交通安全专栏、这次的网上交通安全知识竞赛以及即将在“十一”佳节前向上海市社区发放的交通安全公益海报。梅赛德斯－奔驰在社会公益事业方面的努力能够和上海市有关部门的交通安全宣传教育活动有机结合，公司为此深感荣幸。According to Mr. Wang Hongsheng from Mercedes-Benz China Ltd., Mercedes-Benz, the motor brand with the longest history in the world, has always devoted itself to making contributions to the society not only by producing highly safe motors but by working to enhance people’s awareness on road and traffic safety. He noted that last year Mercedes-Benz joined efforts with the Road Traffic Safety Association of China to launch the “Road Safety Starts With Me” public education campaign. This year, with the supports of the leaders from competent authorities, the media and the people in general, the “Road Safety Starts With Me” public education campaign was launched in Shanghai, comprising a number of activities including the telephone kiosk posters, the traffic safety column on Xinmin Evening News, the ongoing online road safety awareness contest, as well as traffic safety posters to be distributed to communities in Shanghai by the “Oct. 1st” holidays. It is an honor that Mercedes-Benz has the chance to join efforts with competent traffic authorities in Shanghai for this public education campaign.
