2002年10月31日，2002年秋季英特尔信息技术峰会（IDF）深圳讯－－英特尔（中国）有限公司今天宣布，将和复旦大学、上海交通大学、西安交通大学合作，加强大学在基于手持设备处理器核心技术（XScale）方面的实验手段与应用开发；和北京大学、清华大学开始其嵌入式英特尔架构（EIA）学术计划。这是英特尔公司继两年前推出互联网交换架构(IXA) 学术计划并取得累累硕果后的两项最新项目。作为英特尔中国大学计划的一项重要举措，这两个项目必将极大推动新技术进入校园、和大学联合开发最新课程、研发技术和产品，并最终加速实现新技术为企业和社会应用。
31st Oct. 2002 during Intel Developer Forum (IDF), from Shenzhen －－Intel (China) Ltd. today announces its cooperation with Fudan University, Shanghai Communication University and Xi’an Communication University to help the universities enhance the experimental approaches and application development on the core technology of the handheld device processor (XScale). Intel will also begin the academic program with Beijing University and Tsinghua University for Embedded Intel Architecture (EIA). These are the two latest programs after two years ago Intel introduced its Internet Exchange Architecture (IXA) academic program and got fruitful results. As a significant part of Intel’s plans in Chinese universities, these two projects will for sure foster the introduction of new technologies on campuses, incubate the latest courses co-developed with universities, promote the development of technologies and products, and eventually accelerate the corporate and social application of new technologies.

On behalf of Intel Corporation, Mr. Chen Weiding, the president of Intel China and Patrick Gelsinger, the president and C.T.O. of Intel Corporation delivered 60 XScale development modules & software, 30 EIA development modules & software to representatives from Fudan University, Shanghai Communication University, Xi’an Communication University, Beijing University and Tsinghua University.

英特尔中国区总裁陈伟锭先生说：“英特尔公司两年前启动的互联网交换架构（IXA）学术计划首次同国内的重点大学联合研发新技术，目前已取得了一批令人瞩目的成果。这次两项XScale、EIA新计划是英特尔中国大学计划的延伸，我们致力于将技术引进国内的高等学府、加快大学应用新技术的速度和加强大学的研发能力，共同推动中国IC产业和互联网经济的发展。”
“The academic program of Internet Exchange Architecture (IXA) launched two years ago in key universities in China for joint development has already generated satisfying results. These two new projects are the extension of Intel Plan with Chinese Universities. We are making efforts to introduce technologies into domestic universities to speed up the application of new technologies in universities and to improve the development ability of universities so as to facilitate the development of China’s IC industry and Internet economics.” Said Mr. Chen Weiding, the president of Intel China.

英特尔大学计划是一项全球性的计划，是英特尔全球研发战略的一部分。第一批实施的英特尔互联网交换架构（IXA）学术计划的国内五所高校（清华大学，北京邮电大学，上海交通大学，北京大学及电子科技大学）分别在IXA架构的学术研究和教学方面取得了实质性的进展。清华大学基于IXA架构对互联网的队列管理进行研究，这将有助于管理未来不断增加的网络流量；北京邮电大学面向设备提供商及运营商开设了IXA架构的课程，取得了良好的效果。此外，他们还基于IXA架构开发套件中的IXP1200处理器及应用程序接口，开发出了网络性能评估卡；在上海交通大学的30多名研究生的共同努力之下，一本有关IXA架构的教科书即将推出；北京大学在计算机系本科生的教育中加入了关于IXA架构的内容，并开始了一些基础性的课程；在电子科技大学的IXA架构研究实验室里，研究人员已利用IXA1200处理器开发出一整套防火墙系统。
The worldwide Intel University Plan is part of its global development strategy. The five domestic universities (viz. Tsinghua University, Beijing Post University, Shanghai Communication University, Beijing University and the University of Electronic Technology) among Intel Internet Exchange Architecture (IXA) academic program have all achieved material progress in their academic research and education of IXA. Based on IXA, Tsinghua University has conducted researches on Internet queue management which will be beneficial to the management of increasing network flows. Beijing Post University opened IXA courses to equipment suppliers and operators and received great results. They have further developed network performance evaluation card based on the interface of IXP1200 processor and application from IXA development kit. In Shanghai Communication University, over 30 graduate students jointly developed a textbook regarding IXA. The book is to be published soon. Some IXA information and basic classes have been provided for undergraduate students majoring in computer science in Beijing University. In the IXA laboratory of the University of Electronic Technology, researchers have developed a set of firewall system with IXA1200 processor.

作为英特尔中国大学计划的一部分，同时也为了激发大学生的创造力和设计能力，英特尔公司还赞助了由全国大学生电子设计竞赛组委会主办的全国大学生电子设计竞赛－－嵌入式系统专题竞赛。来自国内的15所大学的28个参赛队将激烈角逐将于今年12月揭晓的大奖。
Intel will also sponsor the National Electronic Design Contest for University Students, viz. the Subject Contest of Embedded Systems, which is organized by the Organizing Committee of the Contest. As part of Intel’s University Plan, the contest is designed to inspire the creativity and the development ability of university students. 28 teams from 15 universities in China will participate and the results will be announced in this December.
